Анотація
The article deals with the formation of the St. Petersburg myth in Russian literature in the first part of the XIX century, the notions of myth and theme of St. Petersburg, Petersburg text are differentiated. At the turn of the 1820-30's one can trace the writers' interest in the urban folklore, during absorbing and modernizing of which the genre of oral salon short story was formed. Literary myth about the capital city is being formed during 1830-40's, that is reflected in A. Pushkin and N. Gogol's works. F. Dostoevsky, having adopted Gogol's mythologization of metropolitan life, shows the full force of the St. Petersburg myth in his Petersburg novels in 1860-70's.
