Abstract

While studying genesis of individual and professional becoming of Mary E. Richmond we distinguish two principal groups of scientists who influenced the formation of her social work theory and case work method. The first group includes the scientist’s friends and allies (those researchers that supported and supplemented her ideas and her theory of social work); the second group consists of her opponents (representatives of philanthropy who criticized the researcher’s ideas and ways of her performance). In the article the main focus is placed on the scientist-partners and scientist-friends of Mary E. Richmond.
