Abstract

The article endeavors to define film adaptation of fiction as productive transposition. Analysis of Jane Campion’s interpretation of classic novel “The Portrait of a Lady” by Henry James demonstrates remarkable shifts in bodies’ representations as well as the focus on “caging” the Victorian woman.
