Abstract

This article is an attempt to analyze correspondence of the family members of the fifth generation of the petty noble Galagan’s family – brothers Pavlo and Petro, sister Catherine (in marriage – Rihelman) between themselves and with relatives (nephew Nikolay Markevich, Pavlo Grabbe – the husband niece’s the Galagan’s of the Skoropadsky family), who ran the estates. The correspondence describes short historical period – couple of years in 1830s. The author examines the way how the episodes of “big history” reflected in the minds of respondents and united with their family reaction to the family events. The features of the combination of parts of everyday life in the manor estates of the Left Bank Ukraine have been examined with the signs of authors’ personal awareness of imperial realities of life.
