Abstract

This thesis is a complex research devoted to the scientific problem of future language and literature teachers’ literary competence development in the process of their training in higher educational institutions in the context of modern educational paradigms. The author defined, proved and introduced in the educational process of pedagogical universities theoretical and methodological foundations for forming and developing future teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature literary competence, which are recorded in the author’s model of formation and development system of the studied phenomenon. Theoretical analysis of the main categories that reveal the essence of the concept of "literary competence of the Ukrainian language and literature teacher", namely "the Ukrainian language and literature teacher", "competence", "professional competence" is made in the thisis. The dissertation proves that literary competence of the future Ukrainian language and literature teacher is a personal and professional phenomenon that integrates individual and personal (motives, values, attitudes, philological skills, aesthetic taste) and professional (knowledge, skills) qualities, which ensure readiness to perform literary activities as a basis of professional activity, self-realization and self-improvement. In the thesis holistic essence of future the Ukrainian language and literature teacher literary competence in the focus of interpretational considerations such as individual preparedness for successful performance of professional activities; components of professional competence; the background of pedagogical skills of the Ukrainian language and literature teachers is conceptualized. Structure and content of literary competence, synthesized in the motivational-value, content information, praxeological-reflective integrity is revealed. Motivational-value component defines the responsible mastering and use of fundamental knowledge and skills as ways to perform certain actions of a recipient and literary works interaction on the intellectual-content, emotionally expressive, artistic and creative levels of text understanding. Content information component characterizes understanding of the specific character of literary activity, awareness of its importance in the professional work of the language and literature teacher. Praxeological-reflective component specifies psychopedagogical essence of literary activity as a part of professional activities of the Ukrainian language and literature teacher. The thesis determines the structure of literary competence as a synthesis of individually-personal and professional qualities, revealing the socio- cultural, professional-regulatory and individually-personal characteristics of the Ukrainian language and literature teacher. The author justifies the development of literary competence as a specially organized process, that through interaction of a recipient and literary works on the intellectual-content, emotionally expressive, artistic and creative levels promotes student formation as a creative professional with an individual style of professional activities. She defines criteria (motivational orientation, information and cognitive, praxeological, affective and regulatory), indicators and levels (indifferently-imitative, reproductive, constructive, adaptive-professional, creative) of future the Ukrainian language and literature teachers literary competence development and finds out historical and cultural, social, psychological, organizational and pedagogical factors of literary competence of future professionals in the process of their training. The thesis presents the system of forming and developing literary competence in the higher pedagogical institutions based on axiological, existential, systemic, synergistic, competence, activity, person-centered, integrative, hermeneutic, creative approaches, and holds perspective target-oriented, conceptual-theoretical, methodic-technological, evaluativeefficient units. The author determines pedagogical conditions ensuring the effectiveness of future the Ukrainian language and literature teachers literary competence forming and developing: creating professional literary-oriented learning environment in a higher pedagogical institution; updating the content of literary component of future the Ukrainian language and literature teachers’ training considering the latest approaches and principles; developing personally and professionally meaningful products of literary activity; using innovative learning technologies, interactive forms, methods and techniques of the educational process organization; teachers’ and students’ reflection in literary activities. The effectiveness of the literary competence development, appropriateness of its practical implementation in the process of future the Ukrainian language and literature teachers’ training is confirmed experimentally.
