Abstract

The article substantiates the necessity and expediency of the introduction of polycultural education in the USA, and proves its objective determination. The various stages of the formation of polycultural education in the USA are highlighted from its rejection within the theory of assimilation and the idea of ​​"melting pot" to the attitude to the value of each group, inherent in it differences as a social wealth in the format of the theory of accommodation of ethnic groups. Two stages of formation of polycultural education (according to A. Dzhurinsky) are revealed, namely the creation of conditions for teaching minorities in their native language; inclusion in the curriculum, materials on the history and cultural customs of national minorities, the dissemination of bilingual education.
