Abstract

This thesis addresses the problem of artistic taste formation in high school students in the process of studying the vocal heritage of the Ukrainian composers. Historical and theoretical analysis of the scientific literature on the research subject is presented. The concept of "artistic taste", its structure, criteria, indicators and levels of its formation in high school students is defined and substantiated. Artistic and educational potential of the Ukrainian composers song heritage and its influence on the artistic taste formation of high school students is analyzed. The methodology of artistic taste formation in high school students in the process of studying the vocal heritage of the Ukrainian composers is developed and theoretically substantiated. The following goals, pedagogical conditions are defined: systematic comparisons of a work of art assessment, made by a teacher, to that of a student, made independently; the combination of pedagogical rigor with pedagogical support and performance evaluation of high school students; combining regular classes with the objectives of students’ public demonstration of artistic and academic achievements. The methodology is based on complex methods and techniques, namely block methods and techniques the motivation to study the vocal heritage of the Ukrainian composers of the late XIX – early XX century, providing a cultural basis for understanding Ukrainian vocal creativity, stimulating emotional and evaluative attitude towards vocal classical music performance, activation of creative expression during high school students' performance of works by the Ukrainian composers. Analysis and comparison of the results of the study, made with mathematical and graphical data evaluation methods, confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed methodology of artistic taste formation in high school students in the process of study of the vocal heritage of the Ukrainian composers of and its importance in the modern music education.
