Abstract

Functional features of family narrative is analyzed in this research. Family narrative is used by Z. Smith in her modern works as a tool for ethnoculturogical identification. Referring to «White Teeth» the problem of  correlation between meanings “own” and “foreign”, “eastern” and “western” is  analysed as  well as features of creation of individual and collective memory, interpretations of conflicts of individual and collective self-identification. The role of family histories, family narratives as mechanisms of ethnocultural identitydevelopment is substantiated. The theme of personal integration of migrant-character borders with problem of national identity saving in global world is identified.
