Abstract

The article describes the concept of "cognitive interest" as the most important component of the general phenomenon of interest. The psychological and pedagogical peculiarities of development of pupils' cognitive interests in the process of elementary school are analyzed. The basic concepts of research are determined and the main approaches to the definition of these concepts are highlighted. The features of cognitive interest, its characteristic features and the main stages of the formation process and the stage of development of cognitive interest are considered.
