In the Ukrainian People's Republic on January 5, 1918, the first Ukrainian banknotes - karbovanets - appeared on the run. The national currency was introduced after the announcement of the Third Universal of the Central Rada in November 1917. The UNR had all the attributes of an independent state education, and in fact, the currency proved to be a weighty argument in the affirmation of the young state.
