Abstract

The article presents the author's experience of developing critical thinking skills among representatives of different target audiences. The authors of the publication use the APA Delphi and Paul-Elder models of critical thinking. The importance of developing critical thinking for a lot of professions, highlighted in the report of the World Economic Forum in Davos, 2016, ishighlighted. The interaction of cognitive skills, which are components of the critical thinking, personal dispositions and principles for implementing critical thinking in activity, is disclosed. Pilot study of the sample of teachers demonstrated non-observance of the basic principles of critical thinking in their professional self-assessment, which the authors of the publication attribute to the legacy of the Soviet pedagogical system. The ways are proposed to overcome the identified barriers to the development of critical thinking.
