Abstract

The article presents the psychological and pedagogical foundations of the organization of orienteering and research activity of younger preschool age children. The content of orienteering and research activity is determined. Orienteering and research activity is such an activity in the course of which the social, worldview and life orientation of a person is being formed by studying the static and dynamic position of objects, phenomena and one’s own «Self» in the system of space-time coordinates. Specially organized orienteering and research activities of younger preschoolers give children the opportunity to independently assimilate information about the objects and phenomena under study, while feeling like a researcher, pioneer, learns to formulate their own conclusions. The educator can make this process as efficient as possible and more fully satisfy the natural curiosity of preschoolers. It is in this activity that a harmonious interaction of the child with the environment takes place, thanks to which the development of the child’s versatile talents, as well as the cognitive and motivational sphere of the personality, is carried out. Developing orienteering and research skills of a preschooler child is entirely accessible and even fascinating to parents at home: indoor, outdoor, in the kitchen, at the walk, etc. The systematized orienteering research activity in the younger preschool age contributes to the development of not only appropriate skills, but also the overall life orientation of the child, lays the foundation for expanding his worldview, for developing the ability to quickly navigate in space and time, creates prerequisites for the development of a research attitude to life. As a concrete example of the organization of orienteering and research activities of younger preschoolers, the description of the developmental exercises “Days of the Week” and “Seasons” is presented. The prospects of studying the orienteering and research activities of children to expand the educational opportunities of preschool institutions are shown.
