Abstract

The article examines the participation of Boris Grinchenko in Ukrainian social-political movement of the late nineteenth century. In particular, the controversy between Grinchenko and Drahomanov 1892-1893 about the status and prospects of the Ukrainian national liberation movement on the pages Bukovyna-Galician publications is analyzed. It is noted that Grinchenko’s position marked the transition of the young generation of Ukrainian leaders from starohromadovskoho ukraynofylstva to an organized and politically purposeful struggle for national and cultural independence of Ukraine.
