Abstract

The paper focuses on lexical, semantic and pragmatic features o f the final p a rt o f the contemporary American social and political essay. The research also highlights the means o f implementation o f the main pragmatic fu n c tio n -p e rsu a sio n / influence. It is fo u n d out that the impact on the reader's psychological and emotional spheres is carried out by referring to the feelings offear, resentment, duty, justice and faith. It should be mentioned that texts o f the social political essay are characterized by the addresser's critical relationship to describedfacts and events, as social and political issues, highlighted in works, are evaluated by the author as negative, demanding changes. Thus the main pragmatic influence o f the fin a l part o f the contemporary American social and political essay is in the effect intensification after reading the essay and the appeal to decisive actions on the part o f representatives o f the American society, belonging to the middle class and rejecting the current social-political situation
