Abstract
The article focuses on the implementation of the competence approach in education, the essential feature of which may be in the author's view: the formation and development of competencies; the opportunity to see the results of the educational process from the perspective of the needs of society, the needs of the labour market; targeted education; focusing on results in the measurement of activity; intensification of subjectivity in education; adaptability (creating conditions for active social action, project, research). Also highlights the stages of competence-based approach and the basic components of professional competence of future social workers
