Abstract
In the article the author marks the introduction of the competence approach in education, a symptom which can be: the formation and development of competencies; the opportunity to see the results of the educational process from the perspective of the needs of society, the needs of the labour market; targeted education; focusing on results in the measurement of activity; intensification of subjectivity in education; adaptability. Also reviews basic components of professional competence of future social workers
