Abstract
The article discusses the use of strategies of identity the reconstruct a biography of a historical figure. The possibilities of biographical research by studying the features of self-identity in its social activity are analyzed. Gregory Galagan personality as a representative of the national elite of the XIX century is shown in the ratio of fixed and variable factors of personal identification mechanism, which was implemented in multi-structured social space.
