Abstract
The article analyzes the documents in the educational policy of certain European countries to identify key priorities for the development of higher education. It is reviewed the main principal of development of higher education in the European educational space. The author notes that the main priorities of higher education is proclaimed in international conventions and documents. They are strategic guidelines of the international community. Globalisation affects on education in various ways: globalization entails changes in the labor market; Globalization requires additional resources of the educational system; globalization raises the problem of decentralization and privatization of education; globalization requires international measurements and assessments of education; globalization accelerates the development of information technology; globalization promotes global culture. It is emphasized that the defining trends of the global educational system are deepening its fundamentalization, strengthening humanistic orientation, spiritual and general component of education, the formation of students a systematic approach to the analysis of complex technical and social situations, strategic thinking and bring social and professional mobility. The need to maintain a highly competitive labor market also requires instilling skills and the desire for self-learning, self-education and self-improvement throughout the active working life.
