Abstract

The thesis for a scientific degree of Candidate of Science {Education} on specialty 13.00.09 – learning theory. Borys Grynchenko Kyiv University, Kyiv, 2015. The paper covers results of theoretical and experimental research of the process of forming speech competence of students of higher technical educational institution by means of educational dialogue while learning foreign languages. The actuality, expediency and investigation level of the problem in the context of pedagogical theory and practice have been analyzed. The principle of ‘foreign-language professionally oriented speech competence of students of higher technical educational institution’ concept has been formulated and scientifically substantiated. Its structure (socially oriented, professionally oriented, and business-oriented components) and the criteria of its development (acoustic speech perception (listening), visual speech perception (reading), oral speech realization (speaking), written speech realization (writing) have been outlined. The definition of ‘educational dialogue’ has been specificated; the stages of its organization in class (modeling, motivating, searching, disputing, concluding) as well as the levels of its implementation while teaching foreign languages (basic, intermediate, advanced, professional levels of a dialogization) have been emphasized. The organizational and didactic bases of speech competence formation process for students of higher technical educational institution with the help of educational dialogic means while learning foreign languages (conditions/terms, approaches, principles, methods, techniques, forms) have been improved. The bases involve complex implementation of learner-centered, competence, and communicative and activity approaches; the specific didactic-methodical principles (interconnected types of speech teaching, case study, dialogue learning, professional orientation of learning process); forms (collective and group, independent and individual work); active methods and ways of learning (problem-solving, discussions, business games etc.), providing effective implementation of didactic potential of educational dialogue to form foreign-language professionally oriented speech competence for students of higher technical educational institution. The structural and functional model to form speech competence for students of higher technical educational institution by means of educational dialogue while learning foreign languages has been developed. The ideas of organizing an active dialogue learning foreign languages on the bases of a collaborative pedagogy as well as the idea of scientific interpretation of the phenomenon ‘speech competence’ as an important aspect of foreign-language training of students in higher technical educational institution have been farther developed. The results of the research generalization allowed to develop and implement for teaching and learning foreign languages the special course ‘Speech aspect in a foreign language training of future technical specialists in the context of a competence paradigm’ as well as the methodical recommendations ‘Educational dialogue as didactic means to form speech competence for technical specialties students at foreign language classes’.
