Abstract
This dissertation investigates the processes of development and reforming of LIS professional training in the USA. Analyzed works of Ukrainian and foreign researchers dedicated to the issues of LIS education and Information Science connection to the librarianship helps to observe better the structure of LIS education in the USA. The current tendencies of LIS education in the USA had been extracted in terms of this research which helped to regard closely the structure and content of the system of higher LIS education in the USA. As a result of this research an idea of modernizing LIS education in Ukraine has been established. The following directions of American LIS education application in Ukraine were distinguished: implementing information science into the curriculum of LIS programs in Ukraine, empowering Ukrainian Library Association with opportunities to provide the monitoring of LIS education process, increasing professional mobility of LIS specialists in Ukraine.
