Abstract
Based on new archival and private sources author researches Ivan Krypiakevych formative years, his formation as a human and a scientist. The family upbringing influence, his gymnasium life and student environment during studying in the L’viv University are lightening up. Main attention is paid to becoming of I.Krypiakevych as the historian.
