Abstract
The article deals with the problems of modern understanding of mass culture and, in particular, the art which contradicts to the ‘elite’ art according to the classical distinction of ‘high’ and ‘low’ art, where it appears as a massive negative manifestation of social-culture. The author emphasizes the fact that in the 21 st century, in a world of cultural globalization, mass musical art is a modern art, which does not require comparisons and detraction, as a separate independent art form, without which it is impossible to imagine the social and cultural modernity.
