Abstract
In the article the representation of the Ukrainian national idea in Ivan Franko praxis is analyzed. A core o f the national idea in his lyrics is the idea o f the necessity of revival of the national identity o f every Ukrainian. In the I: Franko’s works (poems “Naymychka”, ”Pryvit’, “Bubnysche” and others). Ukrainian people is represented as sleeping giant which has to get up and break the chains which twined his body. The final role o f this process should play the intelligence. The hope of the world progress, of happiness of every nation and work for it were linked with idea of independence of Ukrainian people.
