Abstract

The thesis is devoted to one of the actual problems of modern Ukrainian literary study – elucidation of the basic concepts and forms of the Ukrainian pre-symbolism in the beginning of the 20th century which unite harmoniously innovations with tradition. A new approach is suggested in estimating Hrytsko Chuprynka’s literary works? One of the most distinctive representatives of the Ukrainian symbolism. Hrytsko Chuprynka’s artistic works is regarded an original phenomenon in the history of the Ukrainian literature, evolution of which has been inseparable from the general development of the Ukrainian and European poetry. Literary heritage of the writer offers an interesting stylistic syncretism of neo-romanticism and symbolism of the beginning of the 20th century. Evolution of Hrytsko Chuprynka’s poetics has been analyzed on the thematic, figurative, and compositional levels. Metric, rhythmic, strophic and fonic organization of his poetry in the context of artistic heritage of other representatives of pre-symbolism has been studied.
