Abstract
Cultural content helps to develop the sociocultural competence of English teachers. The article introduces the basic growth directions of the British artistic culture of the Classical and Baroque periods. In particular, it traces the basic laws of classical English architecture, Baroque music and literature, etc. It describes in details artistic work of Christopher Wren, John Vanbrou, John Milton and John Donne.
