Abstract
In the article the main stages of the Baroque and Classicism culture are shown. The characteristics of different kinds of Art are vividly presented in the article: painting, music, architecture, literature. The most distinguished representatives of the these periods are shown in the historical and cultural context that allows a teacher of French language to develop the students’ social and cultural competence at the French language lessons.
