The article highlights the problem of understanding ourselves and the world around a child with autism. Around the world faces child with autism unpredictable, volatile, confusing and can cause fear, uncertainty and difficulty adapting to it. This is due to fragmentation of cognitive information processing, limitations in the ability to interpret the perceived information and understand its meaning, delay or lack of expressive language, use of stereotyped speech, delay the formation of the "Self". In the article the approach to the personality of the child with autism. Physiological approach considers the extent of maturity of the central nervous system and formation levels of building operations: A – adjustment, B – synergies and stamps, C – spatial field, D – substantive action, E – intelligence. Psychological approach considers the peculiarities of formation in children with autism four hierarchical levels of affective areas: 1) affective plasticity, 2) affective attitudes, 3) affective expansion; 4) emotional control and mental models (understanding and predicting feelings and thoughts of another person). Social approach considers the specific characteristics of play a child with autism: failure or lack of interest in the game, the choice of toys for sensory characteristics (color, sound), do not use in game items substituent, role-playing game is not formed, because of the difficulty to take on the role of other. In this article the author proposed a model of understanding ourselves and the world around a child with autism, consisting of psycho physiological adaptation to the world, a symbolic reflection of the world and life competence of the child. This model can be used to assess the characteristics of awareness of self and the world of children with autism and act a precondition for adequate remedial developmental and educational impact that will take into account the individual characteristics of each individual child with autism
