Abstract

The article describes the measures of the Russian Empire’s power concerning combating the spread of revolutionary ideas on Ukrainian Governorates’ territory of South-West kray during the First World War. Scientific works of modern researchers on this topic and source base, such as archival materials, periodicals and memoirs of contemporaries, are analyzed. Main aspects of local administration’s struggle with information activities of Ukrainian national forces are highlighted. Basic components of anti-socialist information policy of the imperial power are identified. The article describes the specifics of struggle with foreign propaganda and information activities of societies, organizations and interest groups, which had both illegal and legal statuses during the War. Main methods of the imperial power’s struggle with the spread of revolutionary ideas among the population of Kyiv, Podilia and Volyn Governorates are addressed.
