Abstract
Cliches, or deliberately used vocabulary, indicate how media shaped public opinion. The analysis of clichés show that mass media was viewed as an important factor of building up an image of a happy life of builders of the communism as opposed to the insecure world of those who lived behind the Iron Curtain.
