Abstract
The dissertation focuses on the social and cultural aspect in the organizational, scientific, memorial protection and pedagogical activities of art historians in Kyiv in 1920s and 1930s. The paper characterizes the formation of the scientific institutions net due to the initiative of the small group of scientists. This activity caused the consolidation of researches and the increase of professional community and expansion of their influence. The analysis of social and political factors was the basis for the studying of the changes in the structure of institutions, qualitative and quantitative composition of art historians in the city.
