Abstract
Research work plays an important role in the development of modern innovative teacher. Analyzing the case of the Caucasus countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia) as for innovations in teacher education we have concluded that the issue of research-based curriculum implementation is very topical in the teacher education modernization. Students’ research work is seen as one of the main tools in developing the quality of education, preparing future teachers able to use critical thinking skills, research skills for further professional development. Having signed the Bologna Declaration in 2005, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia added value to the students’ individual work and application of active learning techniques (project work, team work, research-based learning). Our research showed that the development of research skills of future teachers in the studied Caucasus countries is realized through the mastering of psychological and pedagogical disciplines, in the process of practical studying and the preparation of diploma dissertations on the finishing stage of studying. The students’ research work has educational and creative features with the increase of scientific emphasis throughout the course of studying both at Bachelor and Master Degree programs. Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia have different scope of experience in implementation of research-based teacher education. Our research findings proved the implementation and further development of the research-based curriculum at both Bachelor and Master Degree programs for future teachers.
