Abstract
The article deals with theoretical approaches to understanding the self-concept of man as a potential for the emergence of his subjectivity. The social, psychological features of the development of the self-concept and the formation of a person as a subject, author, initiator of activity are highlighted. The structure and functions of the self-concept in the mental life of man are determined. The formation of the student’s self-conception occurs through the realization of himself as the subject of action, through the perception of himself as a subject in the system of relations in a new student environment. This focuses on selfassertion in educational and social activities. Later it directs him to self-determination and conscious self-regulation of his actions on the basis of internal development of the pedagogical professional position and understanding himself as the author of activity, the creator of his actions. The direction of further research into the factors shaping the student’s self-concept and the formation of his subjectivity in the educational and public activities of the student environment and professional self-realization in the center of self-knowledge and professional self-development of the higher educational institution is determined. The prospect of further research is seen in the improvement of the psychological and pedagogical program of the formation of the professional subjectivity of future teachers.
