Abstract
The article gives a brief overview on the history of the development of newspaper and magazine periodicals of the People's Republic of China for the period from 1949 to the beginning of the XXI century. The main directions of development of the subject of printed publications are shown; attention has been paid to the most influential of them, in particular, the newspaper "Zhenmin Zhibao", Xinhua News Agency. The emphasis is on issues of press democratization, accessibility and perception by all segments of the population of multinational China.
