Abstract
Background. The article is devoted to the artist Anton Kashshay (1921-1991), is one of the famous figures of Ukrainian art of the twentieth century, a landscape painter. He was a well-known personality who formed his own artistic language, discovered innovative methods and techniques of painting, influenced the development of Ukrainian landscape art and showed the prospects of the development of the genre, taught a new generation of young painters who worked after him. Objectives. The objectives of the article is to study the cultural and social situation in Transcarpathia in the 1920– 1940s, revealing the facts that influenced the formation of the artistʼs personality. Results. The Masterʼs creative growth took place in a difficult and dynamic historical situation. A wide range of factors about the artist was analyzed. The biographical fact was investigated. Conclusions. First, it is an active revitalization of the socio-political and cultural life of the region after its accession to Czechoslovakia/ Secondly, the successful pedagogical activity of the founders of the art school, which was based on certain principles. Thirdly, the introduction of creative experiment in the learning system. And the last is he raising of attention to the principles of folk art, which was very important for of Transcarpathian artistʼs art method, especially A. Kashshaya.
