Abstract
The dissertation is devoted to the problem of the development of professional competence of civil servants in the system of extension of qualification. The modern approaches to the determination of the concept of professional competence in psychological theory are systematized and generalized; the leading role of motivation of professional perfection and work experience in the process of forming the professional competence of civil servants is grounded.
