Abstract
Purpose of the article. The research is devoted to the analysis of the director's work in the process of staging a variety vocal number as a separate, and a combination into a single whole variety of rooms in the concert. The article deals with the specifics of directorial activity in the field of the concert performance of the variety vocal number. The emphasis is on the diversity of variety numbers as a decisive condition for the formation of a concert. The methodology of work is to use comparative and logical methods, a hypothetical and deductive method, which allows assuming the consideration of the specifics of the director's work in the field of variety vocal concert performances. This methodological approach contributes to the analysis and definition of the main features of directorial work when staging a variety vocal number. The scientific novelty is to highlight the specifics of the directing work in the pop vocal number. It is emphasized that the peculiarity of the work consists in combining all kinds of arts: vocal, plastic, choreography, which in turn is based on a single drama and gets stage decorations with light, decorations and technical effects. Particular emphasis is placed on the original meaning of the musical text in the formation of the drama of the number, and not on verbal text, which is more often the dominant for the director. This is justified by the need to emphasize the performance of the artist, his vocal abilities, and creative charisma. The basis for creating drama in the director's conception is determined. Conclusions. The specificity of the director's work is considered from the standpoint of the composition of the pop music number based on the musical material and the concentration of attention on the personality of the artist. The vocal number is manifested as a multilayered structure, where musical and verbal material provides opportunities to reach the level of vocal and dramatic concepts.
