Abstract

Although interdisciplinary approach towards lingual phenomena appears to be a mainstream methodological assumption of present-day linguistics, we can hardly witness breakthrough discoveries concerning fundamental issues of life, social life and humans' verbal behavior. Therefore we suggest a universalia-oriented synthetic-analytical consideration of the said issues' verbal representations. The article deals with the features of social life of man from the standpoint of linguocultural studies, semiotics and universalia-centered linguistics, employing previously introduced methodology of M-logic. A model of systemic interactions reflecting the realization of the social status of a person is discussed. The article analyzes the language units denoting the SLAVE and SLAVERY concepts as civilizational phenomena in opposition to the nature-oriented laws of systems' development. On the basis of etymological analysis of the concepts' names in European languages, ellipticized "texts-programs" encoded in the units' inner forms were reconstructed, thus demonstrating universal trajectories of the said phenomenon's traditional interpretations and understanding within the framework of respective worldviews as well as the specifics of the corresponding linguistic-social statuses. The article draws parallels between verbal representations of SLAVE in texts of mythic, religious, legal and fiction character and presents the distributive-propositional model of the SLAVE concept's content. The obtained results allow identifying the dialectical nature of social phenomena and the peculiar "systemic errors" inherent in the organization of HUMAN as a multidimensional system. Verbally represented social statuses are therefore regarded as "navigational markers" that contribute to the evolutionary / involutional advancement of the system, or create the preconditions for its destruction.
