Abstract
The aim is to form a system of knowledge about the role and place of media criticism in the professional environment and society as a whole. Objectives: - to form an idea about the role of media criticism in the information space, its functions and forms of activity; - consider media criticism as part of criticism; - to find out trends of modern Ukrainian media criticism - to form skills of critical understanding of information and communication phenomena; - to form their own criteria for analysis. After mastering the discipline the student has: - to know the purpose, task, subject of the types of media criticism: academic, professional, mass; - to know the key principles of media criticism as one of the forms of self-regulation of the journalistic community, ethical audit of journalism; - to be able to independently analyze the media works; - to develop their own criteria for analysis on examples from the practice of Ukrainian and foreign critics
