Abstract
The brochure provides a short essay on the history of the creation of the armed forces of the Ottoman Empire, in particular – internal organization of pedestrian, equestrian, special and auxiliary units of the corps of the capyculus was reconstructed. It is established that thanks to a special form of staffing and thorough training, troops of the capyculus were distinguished by their discipline, high fighting spirit and the ability to perform combat tasks of the highest complexity, representing one of the first in the medieval European professional multi-purpose formation. The peculiarities of the creation and functioning of the Janissaries Corps are also considered, its structure and features of its manning have been analyzed, the causes of the decline of the traditional feudal model of the Ottoman organization were determined. It is designed for students of humanitarian specialties of higher educational institutions of Ukraine, researchers, all who are interested in military history.
