Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the essence of information culture as the main factor of security of a social information system in front of the globalization challenges of information threats of modernity. In analyzing the essence of information culture, a systemic approach was applied, namely: defining information culture as a means of functioning complex information systems (individuals, social groups, nations, states) connected by common historical experience, norms, values that determine intellectual and practical capabilities to perceive and assimilate , recycle, use, transfer information in space and in time.
