Abstract
Modern globalization different scale and intensity. In this regard, of particular relevance acquire identity. No single definition of «identity» due to the complex nature of the phenomenon. In the article the main attention will focus on the study of this phenomenon as «lost» identity. «Lost» identity associated with the British colonial policy. Modern Anglo-Indian writers explore the specificity of «anglophile» Indian civil servants and their rejection of the national identity. Kiran Desai in «The Inheritance of Loss» and Arundhati Roy in the book «The God of Small Things» focus on the negative impact of British policy for former residents of Indian colonies. The writer affirmed that anglophile are undesirable anachronistic post-colonial India.
