The article presents a modern view of a child's play – the leading activity of a pre-schooled, and a toy – the main subject that accumulates and transfers to the child the basic images of objects of the surrounding world and the cultural settings of previous generations. A comparative analysis of figurative children's toys of the 20th and 21st century is carried out, and their variability is explained by the external variability of the surrounding reality and the change of priorities in society. The influence of toys on the cognitive, emotional and moral sphere of the child is shown. It is emphasized that this influence is due to the high emotional susceptibility of the child, his tendency to "resuscitation" the character and build a relationship with him on the basis of deep trust. The main idea of the article is based on the thesis that the main function of the toy is the activation of children's activities: intellectual, physical, ethical, and the result of activity – the formation of the value sphere of the child. Communicating with your favorite toy (effective, verbal and non-verbal) allows a child to recognize and change himself over time. Considering the toy as a carrier of socio-cultural information, the author shows the possibilities and features of its use as a means of forming the vital values of a modern child. The article also offers suggestions on the organization of games with children in the family circle.
