Abstract
The article explores the biography and development of famous American writer Mark Twain. The question of development of Twain’s idiostyle is investigated. His works belong to the treasure of world literature. A lot of scientists researched writer’s biography and style but new issue of his Autobiography, published in 2011 hundred years after Mark Twain’s death, opened new facts of Samuel Clemens’ life and creative work. The writer confessed that he tried to invent new literary forms and genres, which could interest his readers many years after publication of his works. First edition of Mark Twain’s biography was composed by Albert Bigelow Paine in 1924. Second variant of Autobiography was published in 1940 by Bernard de Voto. Third variant of Autoboigraphy was published by Charles Neider in 1959. But all of them chose separate extracts from materials, which Twain dictated. They used only the part of author’s text but no one presented autobiography in a way Mark Twain wanted.
