Abstract
The purpose of the discipline is to master the basic principles and principles of activity libraries, archives, information institutions for providing intellectual freedom and access to information as an important component of democracy, teach the ethical principles of the library profession based on concept intellectual freedom and social responsibility, denial of censorship, confidentiality. Objectives of the discipline: - Learn how to argue your point of view when considering problems intellectual freedom and accessibility of information, to evaluate social and the cultural consequences of using information resources; - be able to freely use modern technologies and mechanisms of communication in the process of creating, transmitting and consuming information; - to acquire knowledge of the essence of the concept of intellectual freedom and the role of libraries in its implementation; - deepen knowledge of the functions of libraries, archives and information institutions and accessibility to information in the context of the transition to a knowledge society; - to expand the understanding of the library and information policy of the state with consideration of ensuring the intellectual freedom of citizens; - navigate the problem of countering censorship in the activities of libraries and archives and information institutions; - to form an understanding of the importance of free access and exchange information to activate international library information cooperation; - to get acquainted with the activities of international organizations - UNESCO, IFLA and others active in advocacy and advocacy citizens for free access and exchange of information, including in state institutions (libraries, archives, information centers, etc.); - deepen knowledge of the ethical foundations of the library profession; - help to master knowledge and skills of security the confidentiality of library services and user information; - to lay the foundations for knowledge about the role of the library community in ensuring the principle of intellectual freedom in the activities of book collections and organization of access to information.
