Abstract
Students' linguistic and teaching and strategic competencies are further developed within the practical course. The pragmatic competence is improved in all five types of speech activity of students (listening, reading, speaking, writing, mediation). The practical course of the main foreign language envisages the further development of students' intercultural competence through their motivation to study various aspects of the social and cultural life of German-speaking countries, as well as the basics of communicative linguistics and the theory of intercultural communication.
