Abstract
The purpose of the study is to determine the degree of conformity of subjective self-assessment of the level of health of boys and girls to its real level. Materials and methods. The survey was conducted for self-assessment of health level («Gradusnik» is a scaled self-assessment of health level). 22 senior high school students participated in the survey. Express health assessment by Apanasenko G.L. method. To determine the level of physical health, we measured: height, weight, vital capacity of the lungs, arm strength, heart rate at rest, blood pressure at rest, and recovery time after heart rate after 20 squats in 30 s. The level of physical fitness of the older schoolchildren was determined by the results of motor tests: «running 60 m», «long jump from place», «lifting the saddle in 30 s» and «throwing a tennis ball for distance». Results. The results of the survey show that older schoolchildren subjectively rate their level of physical health as average and higher than average – 41% of students respectively. However, none of the students rated their physical health level as low or below average. But when assessing the level of physical health by the method of G.L. Apanasenko found that 50% of boys and girls have average physical health, 27% – low, 9% – respectively below average and above average, and only 5% – high. Conclusions. According to the research, the self-assessment of the level of physical health of boys and girls is inadequate – overstated. By self-esteem, boys and girls are above average in health; however, the empirically obtained physical health indicator corresponds to mediocre health – an unstable condition that translates into disease with the least impact
