Abstract
The article analyzes the characteristics of intertextual connections in the postmodern project of the Russian writer Boris Akunin, in the novel "Extracurricular reading" (2003), where among the openly noted sources, a diligent researcher can find hidden ones. Among such hidden sources of intertextual connections in Akunin's novel are: the so-called "mystical book" of Balzac, the novel Seraphita. The combination of two lines of intertextual connections complicate the text of the Russian writer's novel by creating new points of meaning and the author's personal position on various issues.
