Abstract
The article deals with the recreation in Eastern and Central European literature (on the example of texts by S.Aleksijevych, V.Medvid, O.Pamuk, D.Rubina) an irreversible danger of destruction a traditional culture (foremost rural), which is a core of national mentality. The writers also confirm that such processes are extremally dangerous by reason of the loss of rural culture, which doesn’t grow into a national urban one, since urbanistic civilization brings only unification and denationalization.
