Abstract
The article deals with the extraordinary spread of literary reporting on the theme of wandering in the Ukrainian Soviet journalism during the period of national-cultural revival, which was called the «root-making». In particular, the collection of Kost Kotko's «Sun beyond minarets» and «Diary of several cities» is thoroughly analyzed. The object of the characteristics of the article was the impression of the reporter from the reforms by Mustafa Kemal in the economic, political, social, religious life of the country. It is noted that much attention in the collection of reports focuses on the descriptive Turkish customs and everyday life, which carry realistic information about the traditional life in the east. The main emphasis is on the fact that the characteristic feature of the cycle of reporting «The Sun beyond the minarets» and «Diary of several cities» is the tendency toward fragmentation. The text is divided into parts, but retains its integrity through the presentation of information from 1 person. It is noted that the chronological type of composition chosen by the journalist allows not only to describe the events, but also to share his own impressions and thoughts from what he saw. Traveler observations of the reporter often consist of fixing all the trifles that reproduce the unique eastern flavor. It is emphasized on the literary and artistic value of the collections of reports «The Sun beyond the minarets» and «Diary of several cities», which since 1930 have never been reissued. Literary reports on the traveling themes of Kostya Kotka, despite almost ninety years since their writing, are read with interest and are relevant today, because they are interesting, cognitive, entertaining, attracting modern readers to the freshness of feelings, intriguing statements of the past and the past, and show a complete and objective picture of the life of Turkey in the 1920's.
