Abstract
The problems of cultural-centerism in the article were observed in ancient Russia during the time of the king Alexei Mihailovich between Muscovites and foreigners. The aim of the research is to explore the identity of one nation through the prism of cultural and moral values of another nation based on the material of the novel “Altin-tolobas” by B. Akunina. There is explored the specificity of Russian life before Petrine period of the seventeenth century which is perceived by foreigners “from the outside and from above” and “at the level of eyes”. The term of “Russianness” as quintessence of national identity in context of the later part of seventeenth century which contains the concepts of “home”, “society” and “statehood”. The concept of “home” shows us the imagination about person`s private life: family and family code of related communication. The concept of “society”-“homo publicus” correlates with the notions of human behavior in society and implementation of the rules of people`s communication. The concept of “statehood” focuses on the state system and on the personality of the king and his relationship with the nobles and society. It is noted that presented concepts represented the components of the national identity of the Russian people: place, rule and person.
